LIGHT FOR THE WORLD works in three domains:

  1. Special services for persons with disabilities, e.g. eye care and rehabilitation services. We offer financial and capacity-building support to local NGOs and governments.
  2. We promote inclusive development by building capacity within organisations and institutions to offer persons with disabilities better access to their services. And hence to better health, education and employment possibilities.
  3. We support Disabled People’s Organisations so they can lobby for their rights and increase their members’ self-sufficiency.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities calls on governments to work towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities. We also believe this must be vigorously pursued for the Millennium Development Goals to be achieved.
